Introduction
Here be some things that I come across and noted while looking through this awesome feature thingy.
NOTE: Noticed that the program only works up until the Teague scene. Probably if one were to have a Blu-Ray CD drive they can explore the rest. Yet I figured out how to find the rest of the stuff. o_O

- The filming of the coal chase wagon was cool: real coal used. Firefighters put out the flames after shooting. Weirdly, some guy picked up hot coal with his bare hands!
- There is a mechanism on the ceiling that makes the chandelier swing back and forth
- There are lots of close-up photos of each characters' costumes. Barbossa's belt has lions on them.
- BIG POST #1: Jack's Adventures After AWE
It weren't the lure of charmed waters that first sent Jack Sparrow on a course for the fabled Fountain of Youth. Nay, rather, Captain Jack set off in pursuit of his beloved ship, the Black Pearl, after it was taken by that blackguard Hector Barbossa when the two last found themselves in Tortuga (after that ungodly row with Beckett, the EITC, and Davy Jones and his barnacled brethren). Jack never made it to the Fountain on that voyage, forced to turn back after complications arose, ensued, and, unfortunately, were not overcome. Fortune sent Jack east across the Atlantic, and it was then he heard tell of Gibbs' dire encounter with the authorities. So Jack charted a course to London to effect the rescue of his devoted First Mate. - Oddly enough, one of the concept art pics for the Fountain of Youth set looks really similar to the city layout of Atlantis (erm, as in the movie with Milo Thatch)
- Another piece of artwork somehow makes me think of Tim Burton.
- BIG POST #2: The X Scar
In the time since ol' Jack faced down Lord Beckett and battled Davy Jones, he acquired an "X" on his right cheek. Jack will not divulge from whence it came, nor how, but rumor has it that it is a mark of bond he shares with a blood brother whose identity is yet unknown to all but that man and Captain Jack himself. Any mention of it is known to send Jack into the foulest of moods, and he is even given to breaking a looking glass to avoid reminder of this particular aspect of his visage. Dread bad luck. But worst luck still awaits the man who pesters Jack for an explanation of that mark. [Note: this does NOT mean that Jack has a real brother] - This occurs in (almost) every set photo with Penelope: Her baby bump is cleverly disguised via certain camera angles, limb positions, etc.
- OMG! There's a few concept art pieces of the "ice fair" that was cut from the movie! It kinda reminds me of steampunk mixed with Pocahontas.
- *sneaky little laugh* I found out how Jack went into the convent and found Angelica. Hint: He's kinda lying when he said "Mistook it for a brothel. Honest mistake." This "BIG POST" info is something I'm gonna keep secret because there are rabid fanfiction writers out there... *shifty eyes*
- According to deck plans of the QAR, Angelica's cabin is located towards the stern.
- BIG POST #3: Scrum's Backstory
What Scrum lacks is gentlemanly grooming (and many a soul will testify he is considerably lacking, indeed), the chap more than makes for with the gift of song. There is nary an instrument Scrum cannot play, although he favors the mandola because his dear mum always said his playin' was so sweet it brought a tear to her eye. He once stole the heart of a Berber princess with nothing more than his dandy tune, and it is said, were the princess not already betrothed to a very big Berber chap who possessed a very big sword, Scrum himself would have sat upon the throne as Amir of Marrakesh. Instead, Scrum ran like hell. - Geoffrey Rush was the one who suggested that Barbossa be eating a green apple in a delicate way.
- One fun fact confirms how Jack and Angelica broke up.
- A set photo shows part of a missing bit: Jack and Angelica in hand, with the wine bottle, dancing the real tango.
- There's not just bottles in that cabinet: There's also scrolls and goblets.
- There is a backstory to the cross necklace Angelica wears... (will not be posted due to rabid fanfiction writers lurking about)
- Altogether, Angelica wears four rings. One of which is the Ring of Thieves, of course.
- There's a view of Halona Cove from the fence that surrounds the beach. With photoshopped Providence crew on it.
- Tim Powers really did visit the set. He saw the Whitecap Bay scene. (I have a photo of him posing with Johnny)
- BIG POST #4: The Old Moon in the New Moon's Arms
The Old Moon in the New Moon's Arms is an astronomical phenomenon most common during our Moon's waxing crescent phase. The dark ("Old") area of the Moon, its surface softly illuminated, appears to be cradled by the bright ("New") crescent of the Moon. Astronomically what is occurring is that light from the Sun is reflecting off the surface of the Earth and back out to illuminate the surface of the "night side" of the Moon, while direct sunlight illuminates the brighter crescent. This phenomenon was written about as early as the 16th century by the great Leonardo da Vinci. - There's a funny photo of Greg Ellis and Damian O'Hare wearing sunglasses (while in costume).
- The location where the crew climbs towards the jungle - they're actually walking towards a main highway. Believe me, I've been on that road - very curvy!
- There's a funny little plot diagram (with doodles) of how the movie plays out (well...not quite). Kinda reminiscent of the comics on CollegeHumor.com.
- There's also a map of the entire island (no, not the one on the map)
- The cross on Philip's Bible is in the exact shape of Angelica's cross necklace.
- There's a motion capture thingy of Astrid. Very, very reminiscent of the making of Brad Pitt's face into Benjamin Button's old man face.
- Another Angelica backstory about her life at the convent, this time when she was six. Hrm...what happened during that time?
- It wasn't until Tim Powers visited the set that the film crew learned that Tim's wife's name is Serena.
- To dispel plot ideas: Yes, there were originally gonna be ghosts.
- There's a photo of Blackbeard going "Durrggghh..." as Groves gets shot.
- Another won't-be-a-big-post...it explains why Blackbeard's so evil and the relation to his own death.
- There's an awesome group photo! If I were bored enough, I would count how many people there are...
- ANOTHER bit of info about Angelica's backstory!! This time, it's when she was nine years old. *makes a Toy Story alien "oooooh"* Hint: It's about Blackbeard...again!
- OMG, how much about Angelica have I found out already?! Here's a few more:
- She would always reread the Old Testament of the Bible and thought that her father was lost at sea like Bootstrap Bill...er, I mean Jonah, who got eaten by a whale.
- She's blind to the fact that Blackbeard's a bad man.
- There's a bit that explains she's kinda like Anne Bonny or something.
- She was originally part of Jack's crew. I don't know for sure when. VERY most likely prior to COTBP.
- She did join a few other crews (disguised as a man)
- Big part explains how Angelica became First Mate to Blackbeard
- The papers Barbossa flings says "George, King of England/Letter of Marque/Captain Hector Barbossa" ...the rest is hard to read.
- Update to that group photo (too lazy to scroll up and fix the previous posting of this):
- Characters seen: two Cabin Boys, Garheng, three Jacks, two Angelicas, Salaman, Gillette, two Blackbeards, maybe Scrum, Philip, Quartermaster, Gunner, Yeoman
- Known film crew: John DeLuca, Rob Marshall, Jerry Bruckheimer, Johnny, Geoffrey?, Ian?, Penelope?, Terry
- Body count: ...I dunno!
- Characters seen: two Cabin Boys, Garheng, three Jacks, two Angelicas, Salaman, Gillette, two Blackbeards, maybe Scrum, Philip, Quartermaster, Gunner, Yeoman
You can ask me for the progress I've made so far, but trust me...I don't really like it. xD I always happen to come up with very good ideas at night but forget them! LOL
Welll, as of lately, I have temporarily stopped doing it due to slight lack of interest/running out of ideas/need to daydream more.
- Other Trivia:
- The Philip-tied-to-the-mast/Jack and Salaman rescuing him scenes were filmed on the same set as the "Tonight" scene. Aka, bluescreen.
- The Providence sailors and the cannons bit was filmed on land. Well, actually, the ship was docked.
- For the Angelica costumers: Her sword is much more elaborate than you might think. Additionally, her corset is much shorter in the back than in the front.
- There are four skeletal hands covering the portholes for the Greek Fire cannons.
- I'm assuming the #29 "OMITTED" part in the script is supposed to be the Ice Fair, since there's a diagram that shows the path Jack and Angelica take from the Captain's Daughter trapdoor to the River Thames.
- One of the set pieces of the pub vaguely reminds me of either the Hog's Head tavern or the Three Broomsticks from Harry Potter.
- One of the wenches (not the Scarlett's-dress nor the Jolly-Sailor-Bold-singer women) looks similar to the brunette on the POTC ride.
- 3 different voodoo dolls were made for the Cliff Jump scene.
- It is a little bigger than a sharpie.
- In at least one of the photos, Monica Cruz is clearly seen
- The very last promo photo (it has Angelica holding the voodoo doll but looking very sad) is labeled "The End...or is it?"
- The rock that the pistols are placed on is actually fake.
- A promo photo exists of Angelica holding Jack's sword, proving that that particular scene of her throwing it back to him was filmed.
- Videos:
- Constructing the Palace - Pretty much how it was built
- Courthouse Set Construction - Nothing much, seeing all the podiums and all that.
- The Judge Arrives - I thought this was hilarious! Jack was originally gonna cough (because of all that powder) as he covers his mouth with a hanky.
- Painting a Masterpiece - That elaborate painting all over the dining hall.
- A King-Sized Tantrum - "I WILL NOT HAVE SOME MELANCHOLY SPANISH MONARCH - A CATHOLIC - GAIN ETERNAL LIFE!" 'Nuff said.
- Opening a Window - Jack throws a chair through the window.
- Jack's Daring Dining Hall Escape - The chandelier's mechanism is seen, how Jack flies to the top, etc.
- Swinging to the Streets - Jack swings from the banner. Bluescreen is used.
- The Coal Wagon - A car with a camera mounted on top films the coal wagon. Some coal hits the camera.
- A Joyous Song - John DeLuca rehearses with the pub wenches and Stephen Graham
- Rafter Fight - What the name says. It's amazing how they don't fall down even though they have wiring attached to their costumes for safety reasons.
(titles from this point forward will be made up) - Barrel Fight: What the name says
- Jack and Scrum: Filming of the two walking below deck and conversing.
- HMS Providence: How the wide angle of the shot was filmed - a helicopter!
- The Mutiny: Starts off where Jack says "It be a sorry plight, mate"
- The Fight: Bird's eye view of the fight aboard the QAR
- Jack vs Quartermaster: What the name says
- Mutineers Hang: Scrum and another pirate get tangled up.
- They Are Sheep: Filming of this particular bit
- Fry the Cook: Filming of how they fired the Greek fire cannons upon the Cook. The cannons are dripping something. Then there's a shot of an underwater view, it looks like a flamethrower shot at the boat, amazing!
- Tango: Includes the bloopered bit and a very slightly different version of the intro.
- Tango Extended: No, not the one in the deleted scene. This is an INCREDIBLE bit that I really like that was unfortunately not in the movie. However it does have that awesome tune from that one secret set video.
- Studio Meeting: Rob Marshall confers with Dairusz Wolski and others to plan the layout of the Whitecap Bay scene.
- Lighthouse: 3D making-of the extension of the set piece.
- Lighthouse Again: John Myrhe talks about the schematics of it. He says it would be 90 ft tall.
- Mermaid attack: What the title says
- Mermaid attack 2: 3D animatic of the mermaids eating Derrick
- Kablooie: Filming of the exploding boat
- Collapsing Dock: Filming of this bit. Minor Johnny blooper included?
- Jack Runs to Lighthouse: Filming of this bit; weird funky background music.
- Someone Must Jump: Starts from where Jack says "You know that feeling..." up until Blackbeard tells the Quartermaster to get the pistols
- Jack Jumps: Very short clip.
- AAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUGH!: Jack picks the pistols. I can see that the film crew were trying very hard not to laugh LOL But anyway...wonder why Penelope's not wearing boots?
- Hold Here: "Deleted scene" explaining Blackbeard's sudden disappearance before the group stops to rest at the trees.
- Rock the Boat: Very short clip of the Ponce de Leon's cabin set.
- Mermaid Skeletons: Little touch-ups on the paint job on one of them.
- You Bilge Rat!: Small improvs between Geoffrey and Johnny. Supposed to be in place of "...Sometimes, I just...improvise."
- Chalices: Rob Marshall and John DeLuca talk with the props master about how to layout it.
- Mermaid Tears: Starts from where Philip returns to Syrena after being darted. Extended dialogue like I previously thought! Ends right when they grab the tear. Astrid's accent is awfully thick here.
- Palm Tree Escape: Lots of takes from the trees, battle against the Spanish. At one part in the clip Johnny almost faceplants into the camera!
- Water Drop: Filming of this. It looks like he's giving the finger for some reason.
- Making the Cave: Styrofoam galore!
- I'm Peter Pan: Filming of Jack's entrance to the Fountain
- Fountain of Youth: Amazing CGI work of the set extension
- Square: Cabin Boy rescues Philip. Deleted lines of dialogue.
- Gracias: Spanish Soldier extras receive their props, baldrics, muskets, knapsacks, etc.
- Column: Just a small shot of one of the columns falling.
- Destroying the Fountain: The final destructive blow.
- Sam Claflin: He chats with Rob Marshall.
- Make Way for Tortuga: Geoffrey sounds like he lost his voice. Also, it looks like Barbossa's wearing both boots??
- Geoffrey Rides POTC: He says of Barbossa on the ride, "It's really good."
- Constructing the Palace - Pretty much how it was built
